Various supports are offered through Enterprise Ireland and IDA to companies wishing to start or continue their Innovation/Digitisation journeys. Working closely with Enterprise Ireland and IDA these partners, Competitive Innovation Consultants, can help you every step of the way – from your initial enquiry, to your application, and finally with programme delivery.
Lean Start
Overview
The Lean Start programme gives companies a chance to explore innovation and digitisation with the guidance of an Innovation Consultant.
Through a short-term engagement, you’ll work together on an Innovation/Digitisation project. This small-scale project highlights the benefits of partnering with an independent consultant. It offers an insight as to what a Lean Plus programme could achieve.
Companies that complete the Lean Start are encouraged to continue with Lean Plus. The Lean Start provides time to prepare a detailed application.
This prepares you for the Lean Plus or Lean Transform programmes.
Project Examples
The improvement project chosen for the Lean Start will focus on key opportunities in the organisation to implement an element of Competitive Innovation/Digitisation Process. The Lean Start should be completed in 7-9 weeks.
The Lean Start costs €6300 and is funded to €5,000 by IDA Ireland and Enterprise Ireland.

Overview
The Lean Plus programme helps a range of companies to build Innovation core capabilities and improve processes through digitisation. It introduces Competitive Innovation for significant Competitive Advantage:
- Innovation Strategy and Implementation Framework.
- Implement Innovation Front Process to identify customer needs/pick winners and weed out opportunities that don’t meet minimum criteria re ROI.
- Governance Process and Project Prioritisation Process.
- Project Resourcing and Capacity Planning.
- Introduction to Business Case.
- Project Risk and Mitigation.
- Culture and tools to promote Innovation.
- Project Innovation Execution.
- Culture of Innovation and Digitisation.
Lean Plus programmes are funded by Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland. This provides their clients with expert advice on Innovation and Digitisation. It covers the cost of training lean champions and using internal resources in the execution of the programme.
Lean Transform
Overview
Lean Transform is a large scale, extensive and holistic training programme which focuses on developing the capability and capacity of the Leadership Team and employees throughout the organisation. The objective is to support an Organisational Innovation transformation focussed on:
- Listening to customer needs and improving the on-going flow of value to customers.
- Implementation of Competitive Innovation processes and tools to help deliver the Organisation’s Innovation Strategy.
- Digitisation of Business Processes throughout the Organisation.
- Leadership and management development to enable the alignment of operations to Innovation company strategy.
The result should be a company-wide transformation in Innovation culture and digitised business processes.
In order to build Innovative-sustainable businesses that can grow into the future, a Lean Transform project invested into people and digital processes should lead to higher quality jobs, as well as sustaining the organisation into the future. Projects may vary in size and scope but will typically be 12-24 months in duration.
